Silas Carson (born 1965), an English actor, is mostly known for playing Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi and Viceroy Nute Gunray in all three of the Star Wars prequels.
In Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Carson also plays two other speaking parts, the Senator of the Trade Federation, Lott Dod (although his voice was replaced with that of actor Toby Longworth) and the co-pilot of the ship which Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are on in the first scene.
He also made a guest appearance on the BBC series Hustle, as Bollywood film fan and perfectionist Kulvinder Samar, and in Spooks and The IT Crowd. He provided alien voices for the Doctor Who episodes The End of the World, The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit.
Since late 2007 he has appeared in several episodes of BBC's school drama Waterloo Road as Stuart Hordley. His character was running a campaign of blackmail against head teacher Rachel Mason (played by Eva Pope) due to her involvement in prostitution as a teenager. Carson's character started a fire in the school buildings, which led to both him and Pope's character being trapped under rubble, and learning support assistant Davina Shackleton (played by Christine Tremarco) suffering from smoke inhalation; the viewers have been left on a cliffhanger in the final episode of the series as to whether any of the three characters have survived or not.
Played four different characters in the Star Wars prequel movies - Viceroy Nute Gunray (Episodes 1-3), Ki-Adi-Mundi (Episodes 1-3), the co-pilot on the ill-fated Republic Cruiser (Episode 1), and Neimoidian Senator Lodd Dodd (Episode 1).
