Scary Movie (2000), an American film directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, is a comedy-gross-out film spoof that parodies the horror and mystery genres. Several mid- and late-1990s movies are spoofed, including the more subtle horror film parody series Scream trilogy, The Sixth Sense, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Usual Suspects, The Matrix, and The Blair Witch Project, while it also parodies many of the classic horror films, most notably Halloween.
The tagline is "No mercy. No shame. No sequel.", with the last reference being to the tendency of popular horror movies to become long-running franchises. However, in 2001, Scary Movie 2 was released (with the appropriate tagline "We lied"). The film was followed by a series of sequels Scary Movie 3 (2003), Scary Movie 4 (2006) and a Scary Movie 5 is in development for (2008). The franchise has also spawned similar films, Date Movie, Epic Movie and its pseudo-sequel, Meet the Spartans all of which were written and directed by the Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the original writers of Scary Movie. However, another spoof movie is being made called Superhero Movie, but it won't be made by Aaron Seltzer or Jason Freidberg.
The original title for the film Scream was Scary Movie which ironically was used later to parody it. Both films were released through Dimension Films. It is the highest grossing film by an African-American director in history.
Fear is a State of Mind.
A group of teenagers including Cindy Campbell (Faris) and Bobby Prinze (Abrahams), accidentally hit a man when driving, and dispose of the body, but now they are being stalked by a very recognisable masked killer. Six friends - Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris), Bobby Prinze (Jon Abrahams), Buffy Gilmore (Shannon Elizabeth), Greg Phillipe (Lochlyn Munro), Ray Wilkins (Shawn Wayans), and Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall) - are being stalked by a serial killer. A serial killer that is after them because of an accident that they caused last Halloween. A serial killer that seems to have come out of every other scary movie. The body count's already started with Drew Decker (Carmen Electra), the local town slut, and it's starting to build up. The friends are going to have to escape from both the killer's clutches and annoying news reporter Gail Hailstorm (Cheri Oteri) if they plan on living to the sequel... Written by Will
