Scarred is a TV show that debuted on MTV on April 10, 2007. On each episode of Scarred, several real-life risk-takers share the stories of how they were scarred or injured while attempting dangerous stunts on, primarily skateboards (but, occasionally, in-line skates, skis, snowboards, and bikes). The show features a segment called "Scar Stories", which broadcasts videos caught on the scene of individuals dramatically injuring themselves to a great extent, (the wound often leaving a scar), hence the show's name. Starting with the second season, they began to count down the five videos of the episode, then recapping before the episode ends with a video clip called "The Most Fucked Up Clip of the Day", which is number one on the list and usually the most stomach-turning clip of that episode. Examples of such injuries is one skateboarder grinding a rail only to slip, land his stomach on the bar, bounce off and land on his face, this ripped his small and large intestines in half and caused only minor head injuries. The show is currently being hosted by Papa Roach front man Jacoby Shaddix. "Alive ('N Out of Control)'", by Jacoby's band, Papa Roach, is the theme song for the show. Andy Samberg who was the star of the movie "Hot Rod" also hosted a special hot rod edition to promote his movie. He was included in 3 out of the shows 5 stunts including number 1.
The full disclaimer of the show:
Every scar has a story. Inspired by the popular user generated clips of crashes, wipeouts, and accidents that permeate the internet, Scarred is an inside look at some of the most gruesome scars from around the country. Each week, we'll track down some of these makeshift stunt men and women to find out what went wrong, what happened in the hospital, and how they got Scarred. This show is almost too painful to watch.
Due to Jacoby's tour, the show stopped after 13 episodes. There have been no announcements about the show's cancellation and is scheduled to continue after the Papa Roach tour ends.
Scarred, like many shows in the same genre, such as Jackass, provides a warning to audiences that they should not attempt the stunts or send in home videos. However, critics say that the viewers will overlook these warnings, since the show itself is a compilation of home videos of severe accidents and injuries.
