Sam Newfield (December 6, 1889 - November 10, 1964) also known as Sherman Scott or Peter Stewart, was an American B-movie director, with over two hundred and fifty films to his credit. Because of this massive output, sometimes releasing nearly twenty movies in a single year, he has been called the most prolific director of the sound era.blank">http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0627864
Most of Newfield's movies were created for Producers Releasing Corporation, _PRC Pictures. This was a film production company that he operated in association with his brother Sigmund Neufeld. The films they produced were mostly low budget productions, the majority being westerns, with an occasional horror film or crime drama.

Generally considered to be the most prolific film director (as opposed to cartoon director) in the history of American cinema, with estimates of his output in the 300+ range over a career that began in the silent era and lasted until the late 1950s. He directed industrial promotional one-reelers, two-reel training films and comedy shorts, TV series episodes, full-length features, TV series episodes that were padded into full-length features, and pretty much anything anyone would pay him for. He used a plethora of different names in addition to his own, and newly discovered credits--often shorts from the mid to late 1920s--are being added to his filmography to this day.
