Rush Hour is a 1998 martial arts/buddy cop film directed by Brett Ratner and starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. The film was successful, becoming the 7th top grossing film of 1998, with a gross of over $140 million dollars at the US box office.

Although opening sequences are supposedly set in New York City and on the Staten Island Ferry, they were actually filmed in San Francisco and on San Francisco Bay.

But the FBI officials do not want any help from outside and officially request help from LAPD, who are glad to get rid of Detective James Carter for a while, a big-mouthed work-alone cop who just can't be cool enough.
