"Rubberband Man" is the third single released from T.I.'s album Trap Muzik. The high-quality production of David Banner's was noted by music reviewers, particularily the ascending organ riff that has been described as 'hypnotic' and 'pure halftime show'. Upon release, it charted reasonably well, peaking at number 30 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The song is included in the hits collections Totally Hits Volume 1, Crunk Hits Volume 1, and Hip Hop Hits Volume 9 . T.I. says the song's title is a reference to his habit of wearing rubber bands around his wrist, a habit that dates back to when he was a drug dealer. Publicity efforts for the single were derailed by T.I's arrest in August 2003. . David Banner, Michael Vick, P. Diddy and Jazze Pha all make cameo appearences in the video.
"The Rubberband Man" is a song recorded by the American vocal group The Spinners (known as "Detroit Spinners" in the UK).
The song was written by producer Thom Bell about his son, who was being teased by his classmates for being overweight. Intended to make his son feel better about his self-image, the song eventually evolved from being about "The Fat Man" to "The Rubberband Man".
The last Spinners song to feature Philippé Wynne on lead vocals, "The Rubberband Man" spent three weeks at number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and topped the U.S. R&B chart at the end of 1976. It was also a top-twenty hit in the UK Singles Chart.
The song was sung by Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter in a Season 4 episode of The Muppet Show. In the early 2000s, the song was featured prominently in a series of OfficeMax television commercials starring actor Eddie Steeples.
