Roger Ashton-Griffiths (born January 19, 1957) is a British character actor and screenwriter.
He has appeared in numerous high-profile films, including Terry Gilliam's The Brothers Grimm and Brazil, A Knight's Tale, Gangs of New York, What a Girl Wants, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover and King Ralph. He has also worked extensively in television.
Dual Canadian/British nationalities. Read Music at Lancaster University (75-78) before joining English National Opera as singer (79-81). Theatre credits subsequently include Gloucester (King Lear) at Colchester, Judge Turpin (Sweeney Todd) at Liverpool and Watford, Algol (Space Queen Maladjusta) at Southampton, Angelo (Archangels Don't Play Pinball) at Bristol. Married BBC studio manager Sharmini Thillaimuthu. Two children. Lives in London and Suffolk.
