Ricky Ross (born Richard Ross, 22 December 1957 in Dundee, Scotland) is a male singer and songwriter, most famously with the Scottish rock band, Deacon Blue.
Ricky Ross was a drug trafficker whom many consider responsible for beginning the crack cocaine epidemic in the U.S. during the 1980s. In 1996, Ross was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of trying to purchase more than 100 kilograms of cocaine from a federal agent. The decision was brought to a federal court of appeals where his sentence was reduced to 20 years.
