Richard D. Masur (born November 20 1948) is an American actor who has appeared in over 80 movies during his career. He served two terms as president of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) (1995-1999).
Masur was born in New York City to the son of the late Claire and Jesse Masur, a high school teacher mother and pharmacist father. Masur attended P.S. 28, Walt Whitman Junior High School, and Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, New York. He is the brother of Judith Masur, and the husband of Eileen Henry.
Masur studied acting at The Yale School of Drama and appeared on stage before acting in movies during the 1970s. He had recurring roles in such TV sitcoms as Rhoda (1974-78), One Day at a Time (1975-76), and Hot L Baltimore (1975). In January 2006, he began playing a recurring character on the soap opera All My Children.

Moved from being a familiar face for over 20 years in film and television to directing. His first project Love Struck (1986), a 23-minute film which he both wrote and directed, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. His ex-wife Fredda Weiss produced the short.
Versatile character actor whose quality TV movie roles over the years have ranged from playing a Senate investigator in Adam (1983) (TV), to a child molester in the acclaimed Fallen Angel (1981) (TV), to a gay cop in When the Bough Breaks (1986) (TV). He also received an Emmy nomination for his performance, opposite Farrah Fawcett (also nominated) as an abused wife and mother in Burning Bed, The (1984) (TV).
Remembered as Bonnie Franklin's lumpish, even-natured boyfriend in the earlier seasons of "One Day at a Time" (1975).
Sits on the Boards of The Hollywood Policy Center and The Creative Coalition, and has been deeply involved, for over six years, in the campaign for a U.S. National Health Program.
Present wife Eileen Henry is a SAG New York branch President.
