Reed Hadley (June 25, 1911 - December 11, 1974) was an American movie, television and radio actor.

Reed Hadley was born Reed Herring in Petrolia, Texas to Bert Herring and his wife Minnie; Reed had one sister Bess Brenner and lived in a small in town in Texas and grew up in Buffalo NY. He graduated from Bennett High School in Buffalo and was involved in local theater with Studio Arena Theater with Jane Keeler. His father was an oil well driller. Reed was married to Helen and had one son Dale. Before moving to Hollywood he acted in Hamlet on stage in NYC.

Throughout his thirty-five-year career in film, he was typecast as both a villain and a hero of the law. With his bass voice and 6'4" stature, he did voice over for documentaries. He starred on three television shows: Racket Squad (1950-1953) & Public Defender (1953-1954). He also worked on the Red Ryder radio show during the 1940's. In films,among other things, he starred as Zorro in the 1939 serial Zorro's Fighting Legion. According to imdb, his alternate name is Reed Bert Hadley. He is immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his television credits.

He was the host for a film, called "Operation Ivy", about the first hydrogen bomb test, Ivy Mike, produced by Lookout Mountain studios. The film was originally intended for internal military use, but has been "sanitized", edited, and de-classified, and is now available to the public.

Reed Hadley died on December 11th 1974 in Los Angeles, California, according to imdb.com he had died from a heart attack. He was aged 63 at the time of his death. His burial ground area is unknown, probably in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale.

Tall, dark, and handsome, Reed Hadley appeared most frequently as either a villain or as an officer of the law during a film career of 35 years. His rich, bass voice was also frequently heard as narrator for movies and documentaries. He may be best remembered for his work in television where he starred in "Racket Squad" and "Public Defender". Other highlights of his career include playing the title character in "Red Ryder" on the radio and Zorro in the Republic serial, "Zorro's Fighting Legion."
