Prudence Anne Villiers Farrow (born January 20, 1948) is the sister of actress Mia Farrow and daughter of film director John Farrow and actress Maureen O'Sullivan.
She worked with her sister on some of her films, including The Purple Rose of Cairo and Widows' Peak.
Farrow is the subject of the song "Dear Prudence" by The Beatles. This song was written by John Lennon for Prudence while both were staying at the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's] retreat in Rishikesh, India. Prudence would not join the activities, staying instead in seclusion during long periods of meditation in her room. Lennon and the others at the retreat wanted her to join them, and Lennon wrote the song to entice her "to come out to play," as the lyrics go. Lennon later revised the song by adding visions of world beauty.
