Phil Vassar (born May 28, 1964 in Lynchburg, Virginia phil/bio.jhtml" target="_blank">CMT.com : Phil Vassar : Biography ) is an _American country music singer-songwriter, noted for his use of a piano as a backing instrument.
Vassar made his debut on the American country music scene in the late 1990s, co-writing number one singles for Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina, and Alan Jackson. By late 1999, Vassar was signed to Arista Nashville. His debut album, Phil Vassar, was released in early 2000. It produced five hit singles on the U.S. Billboard country singles charts and was certified gold in the United States.
As a singer, Vassar has charted fifteen singles on the Billboard country singles charts, including two number one singles: "Just Another Day in Paradise" (2000) and "In a Real Love" (2004). He has also co-written five additional number one singles for other artists.
In 2007, Vassar changed labels, signing with Universal South Records.
