Permanent Vacation is a 1980 drama film directed, written and produced by Jim Jarmusch. It was the director's first release, and was shot on 16 mm film shortly after he dropped out of film school. Although lacking some of the elegance of his later works, this film is often credited as the birth of the director's original style, and character schemes.
In downtown Manhattan, a twenty-something boy (Chris Parker)whose Father is not around and whose Mother is institutionalized, is a big Charlie Parker fan. He almost subconsciously searches for more meaning in his life and meets a few characters along the way. Written by Anonymous
In this outlandish black comedy, Eric (Frank Harper), a mild mannered man, takes his wife (Gina Bellman) and his children (Jonathan Bailey and Phoebe Thomas)on what he believes will be a final happy holiday before his kids leave the nest. Instead of a peaceful holiday, Eric is thrust into a world of sexual decadence, headless corpses, sadistic policemen (Michael Bowen), and one wise old man (David Carradine).
