Our Family Honor was a dramatic television series aired in the United States on ABC as part of its 1985 fall lineup.
Launched as a two-hour TV-movie, Our Family Honor was about two New York City families who had known each other since their childhoods and who were involved in competing "family businesses" - the McKay family mostly worked for the New York City Police Department, where Patrick (Kenneth McMillan) was Commissioner, while the Danzigs were deeply involved in organized crime, with patriarch Vincent (Eli Wallach) filling the role of "godfather". Detective Sergeant Frank McKay (Tom Mason) was Patrick's often hot-headed son while Vincent's cruel but inept son Augie (Michael Madsen) was nonetheless his heir apparent. Liz McKay (Daphne Ashbrook), Patrick's niece, was a newly-graduated officer now partnered with Officer Ed Santini (Ray Liotta). She was romantically involved with Vincent's other son, Jerry (Michael Woods), who wanted out of his father's business and used the name "Jerry Cole" in order to minimize any connection with his father's family. Another story line involved Vincent's murder of his wife's lover, carried out by Augie; when Frank came to arrest Augie for this crime, Augie died in the ensuing fight. The effect of Augie's death remains unknown; despite the program's large budget and large, impressive cast, it was permanently cancelled due to low Nielsen ratings after the episode (January 3, 1986) containing this event was aired.
Patrick McKay and Vincent Danzig both grew up together but took different paths in life. McKay became a policeman and is now one of those being considered for the soon to be vacated position of police commissioner, while Danzig became a criminal. And there has been a feud brewing ever since McKay's son, Patrick Jr. was killed and it's strongly believed that the Danzigs were the ones who did it. Now that McKay is on the verge of being appointed Danzig has his son do everything he can to have McKay discredited so that he won't be appointed. Part of his plan is to set up McKay's other son, Frank's partner, Mickey as being on the take. So, Frank goes out to try and prove that Mickey was set up. And if that weren't enough, McKay's granddaughter, Liz, a rookie cop, was there when she and some other police officers arrested a young black man, now the black man died, so the black community wants to sue the city for brutality and seek out McKay's other son, Matt, a lawyer to handle the case. This series revolves around the lives of two families, the McKays and the Danzigs. The McKays are a family of cops while the Danzigs' business is not exactly legal. The McKays have made it their life's mission to bring the Danzigs down cause they believe that it was the Danzigs who killed a member of their family years ago. And adding fuel to the fire is the fact that the Danzigs' prodigal son, Jerry is involved with Liz McKay whose father was who was killed years ago. Written by rcs0411@yahoo.com
