Omar Cruz (formerly known as Blunts LLA) is a West Coast rapper. Born in Los Angeles to a Colombian father and a Mexican mother, Omar initially used the nickname Blunts and added LLA to stand for "Latin Lyrical Assassin." Currently, he has released two mixtapes entitled City of Gods and Blow, the latter of which caught the attention of Interscope Records, leading to a signing of Cruz's independent label, BYI Entertainment, into a joint venture deal with Interscope and Geffen Records. That same month, he released his highly anticipated street album The Cruzifixion, which garnered the highest possible rating from Scratch magazine. He was set to release his debut album, Sign of the Cruz, the first quarter of 2007, although it has been pushed back and has no set date. In January 2007, Cruz released a mixtape titled 2007 B.C. (Before Cruz) with DJ Skee and Big Mike. He recently recorded a track with The Game and WC called "Power House". The track can be heard on his MySpace page. In August, his first single from his debut album came out, called "Hang With My Dogz." He just finished a West Coast radio station tour. In early February, his second single, "Gangsta Music" f. The Game, has been released on Myspace and given to radio stations.
Omar Cruz has been working on his upcoming album with producers Cool & Dre, Rome, Javie Lopez, Hi-Tek, Nottz and DJ Khalil.
“I’m still recording songs for the album. Alchemist is one I still haven’t gotten in the studio with . . . I got Cool & Dre, my man Rome, Javie Lopez, Hi-Tek. I worked with Khalil and Nottz.”
