Ocean Pacific(Op) is a surf clothing company based in Irvine, California, USA. It began as a surfboard label in the 1960s, the apparel line appearing in 1972. Founder Jim Jenks of San Diego, California, wanted to create clothing that met the demands of surfers in and out of the surf. Ocean Pacific quickly became the name of the surf beach culture with its instantly recognizable "OP" logo. The company is still in operation, and sponsors surfing competitions and supports musicians. The company has sponsored more world surfing champions than any other brand, including Tom Curren and Kelly Slater.
The Ocean Pacific brand experienced a rocky financial patch through the 1990's, but survived, and now has what could be called "distinctively organic feel upon its products".
