North Shore is a prime-time soap opera that aired on Fox every Monday at 8 p.m. EST (7 p.m. CST) for seven months in 2004 and 2005. It centred around the staff and guests of the fictional Grand Waimea Hotel and Resort (actually the real-life Turtle Bay Resort located near Kahuku, O'ahu) on a "north shore" in Hawai'i.
From Fox's Web site: North Shore premiered on June 14, 2004, with a 13-episode commitment from Fox. The show was cancelled in January 2005 after a 21-episode, single-season run. The show ended on a cliff hanger, and the final episode of the series has only had a single airing, not being shown in most territories (including America).
North Shore is a 1987 film about Rick Kane (Matt Adler), a young fictional surfer from a wave tank in Arizona, who heads to surf the season on the North Shore of O ahu and see if he has what it takes to cut it as a pro surfer. As he prevails on his journey, he finds out the qualities he possesses are not going to pull him through alone.
Intrigue abounds at the Grand Waimea Hotel, an exclusive Hawaiian escape for the wealthy, powerful and beautiful. Hawaiian-born Jason Matthews runs the hotel as the assistant manager and makes sure every guest gets everything they need. But when former flame, Nicole Booth, arrives as the hotel's new Director of Guest Relations, Jason's world is turned upside down. But the Grand Waimea owner, Vincent Colville, is staying on top of him to make sure his past with Nicole won't affect their work life. Just as interesting as the hotel's wild and crazy clientele is its staff, which is filled with friends, thrill-seekers, con artists, and dreamers in paradise. Waitress M.J. Bevans, Jason's surrogate little sister and roommate, is just waiting for her t-shirt design business to blossom into a fashion empire. Chris Remsen runs an adventure company that caters to Waimea guests. Bartender Frankie Seau keeps those guests well-lubricated while trying to hide a mysterious past. Also included is Gabriel Miller, the young lifeguard trying to carve out a surfing career, and Tessa Lewis, a crafty former con artist/ex-con who's now putting her skills of manipulation and deception to both good and bad use as the hotel's concierge as well as for her own devious agenda to look for any dirt on guests and staff alike for personal gain. Intrigue and excitement await every guest at the Grand Waimea. Just ask the staff. Written by mandy
Before entering art school next autumn, Rick sets out to spend the summer surfing at Hawaii. He knows nothing about the local habits, what causes him some starting problems, but by chance he gets a room in the house of guru Chandler. He teaches him the difference between 'soul surfers' and those who surf for fame and money. Also he manages to get the attention of a beautiful young native.
