Norbert Leo Butz (born January 30, 1967) is a Tony Award-winning American actor. He is known for his work in Broadway theatre.

Norbert Leo Butz was born seventh to the Butz family in St. Louis on January 30th, 1967. He was originally born "Timothy James" until his father got a hold of the birth certificate and changed it to name him after himself (and Leo for his father-in-law). Norbert kept that name when he went to audition for Alabama Shakespeare festival in 1993, only without his middle name. Because people kept getting him confused with his father, he quickly decided to use Leo. In 1997 his Broadway career began when he moved up with his then wife Sydney and their baby daughter Clara, to become swing in the musical "Rent". After a couple months in the part, he got the full time lead of Roger. After "Rent", Norbert toured at the Emcee in Cabaret when his daughter Maggie was born. Norbert stared in other shows like playing the confused heart throbbed Jamie in "The Last 5 Years" and revenge-seeking Camille in "Thou Shalt Not" until he made in big break in 2003 as the hot, careless Prince Fiyero in "Wicked". During his Wicked run, however, Norbert and Sydney divorced and then Norbert met future fiance Michelle Federer. Norbert left the show on July 7, 2004 to star in the hit "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" in when he played the clueless but funny Freddy Benson. Norbert continued that role for the national tour until October of 2006 when he filmed "Dan in Real Life". "Dan in Real Life" is expected to open in theatres September 21, 2007.
