"No Goodbyes" is the final song from the musical Over Here!, which opened on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre on March 6, 1974. The song was written by Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman and is a tear evoking to the soldiers as they ship off to war. It is also a sentimental goodbye to the audience.
"No Goodbyes" is the fifth and last single by popular English rock band The Subways, from their debut album Young for Eternity. It was released on the 12th December 2005 and got to number 27 in the UK singles chart.
No Goodbyes was the Dutch entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000, performed in English by Linda.
The song is an up-tempo number, with Linda telling a former lover that their relationship is over. She sings that she wants "no more questions, no more lies", as well as "No more cheating", suggesting that the cause of the breakup is a long-standing one. The lover appears to have told her that there was nothing wrong at various points - comments she dismisses out of hand, before telling him that she wants "No goodbyes" and a clean break.
Attracting more notice than the lyrics, however, was the performance itself. Linda began her performance on stage by herself wearing a large black and white dress. As the song progressed, however, her backing dancers emerged from underneath the dress, and she eventually discarded it to reveal a tight silver outfit.
The song was performed second on the night (following Israel's PingPong with Sameyakh and preceding the United Kingdom's Nicki French with Don't Play That Song Again). At the close of voting, it had received 40 points, placing 13th in a field of 24.
It was succeeded as Dutch representative at the 2001 Contest by Michelle with Out On My Own.
