Nadia Almada (born January 28, 1977) is a Madeiran reality television star, best-known for being the first transsexual winner of Big Brother (UK series 5) in 2004.
She was born male on the Portugal Island of Madeira, under the name of Jorge, but she was known as Carlos. She moved to England in 1996 and worked in a department store in Woking, where she lives. She has also managed a children's bookstore. Before entering the Big Brother house she worked as a cashier in Barclays bank.
Lived in Pretoria, South Africa from 1989 to 1992 with her parents Luis and Conceicao and her five brothers, Duarte, Agostinho, Luis Jr., Miguel and Andre. Her mother moved the family back to Portugal in 1992. Her dad still lives in South Africa.
Moved to England in 1996 and underwent a sex change in December 2003.
Won £63,500 as the winner of Big Brother 5 in August 2004 in the UK. She was voted winner by 78% of the vote. Jason Cowen came second with Dan Bryan in third place.
In November 2004, she released her debut single "A Little Bit Of Action".
