My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade is an animated feature coinciding with the release of the Crystal Princess line of My Little Pony. It featured the debut of the Breezies who live in Breezie Blossom and the 2006 re-design of Spike the dragon, who originally featured in the first run of My Little Pony (referred to as the G1 line by collectors) from the 1980s into the 1990s.
The DVD also features another animated feature, A Charming Birthday, which was originally released on video in 2003.
The film has developed somewhat of a mock cult following on the popular movie website IMDb. Users hailed the film as being a monumental achievement in filmmaking, and analyzed it deeply on the message boards. The movie has earned an 8.0 on the 10.0 rating scale, with 2865 votes reported. However, in early February 2008 all of the user comments on MLP:TPP were deleted by IMDb. It remains to be seen whether the "comment cult" will re-emerge.
As the Ponyville spring parade draws near, Wysteria's elaborate plans for the floral festivities are threatened by the awakening of a 1,000-year-old dragon and the coming crowning of a new princess. With her gardens in bloom and her friends all preparing for the upcoming spring parade, Wysteria is devastated when she inadvertently awakens Spike the dragon from his millennium-long slumber. Legend has it that when a dragon is awakened, a new princess is to be crowned -- but who could it be? As the inhabitants of Ponyville eagerly await the announcement of the new crowned head, they are about to learn important lessons in both what it takes to be a princess, and what it means to be a true friend.
