"Heartbeat" is a single by the band King Crimson, released in 1982. Its tracks are from the album Beat (1982). The song was also recorded by King Crimson guitarist and singer Adrian Belew for his 1990 solo album, Young Lions.
"Heartbeat" is a song written by Bob Montgomery and Norman Petty and recorded originally by Buddy Holly in 1958. It reached number 30 in the UK Singles Chart twice for Holly, once in January 1959, and again in April 1960 (re-issue). It was also a minor hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Knack included a version of "Heartbeat" on their 1979 hit debut album, Get the Knack. Plus, actor Nick Berry sung a cover version in 1992, taken from the popular UK TV series of the same name. His version of the song reached number two on the UK Singles Chart.
The English rock and roll revival band, Showaddywaddy, also had a hit with the song in the 1970s, reaching number 7 in the UK chart in September 1975. Cilla Black released her version of the song that same year.
