"Mr. Jones" is a song by the American rock band Counting Crows. It is the third track of their debut album August and Everything After (1994). It was the band's first radio hit, and, in the eyes of many, remains their best-known song to this day.
Mr. Jones is the first single from Mike Jones' album The American Dream. Bun B, Lil' Flip, DJ Drama, Letoya Luckett, Slim Thug, and King Mello make cameo appearances. At the end of the song, Mike Jones claims that there is a film called The American Dream coming out as well as the album. The single debuted at 92 on the Billboard Hot 100, but the following week it fell off the chart.
The video for Mr. Jones premiered on February 15 on BET's 106 and Park.
Rapper Lil Wayne used the music from this song, replacing Jones' lyrics with his own, and released the mix as "Sky's the Limit" on his 2007 mixtape Da Drought 3. Lil' Wayne's version of Mr. Jones has grown to be more popular than Mikes Jones' version of the song. It was ranked as the fourth best song by Lil' Wayne in 2007 by Vibe magazine.
