Mona Freeman (born Monica Freeman on June 9, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland) is a former American movie actress.
The 5' 1" blonde was a model while in high school, and after becoming the first "Miss Subways" of the New York City transit system, eventually signed a movie contract with Howard Hughes. Her contract was later sold to Paramount Pictures. Starting in 1944, she became a popular teenage star in movies. As an adult, her career slowed and she appeared in mostly B-movies. One notable exception was a role in the film noir Angel Face. Freeman stopped appearing in films in the 1950s but continued to work in television.
A professional model while still in high school, Mona Freeman was signed to a movie contract by Howard Hughes (I), who then proceeded to sell her contract to Paramount. Starting out in typical juvenile parts, she developed into a very competent actress. As she worked her way out of the teenage ingénue role, however, she found that she had less success in adult roles, and instead of landing parts in "A" pictures she found herself relegated to "B" westerns and somewhat tawdry crime dramas (e.g., Flesh and Fury (1952), Before I Wake (1954)). She basically retired from film work in the late 1950s, but worked steadily in television for quite some time after that.
