Mike Smith (actor) (Wikipedia.org)

Mike Smith (born August 27 1972) is a Canadian actor, perhaps most famous for playing Bubbles on Trailer Park Boys.

Mike Smith (television presenter) (Wikipedia.org)

Mike Smith is a British television and radio presenter.

He attended King Edward VI Grammar School (Chelmsford)

He began his broadcasting career at Chelmsford Hospital Radio, before joining London's Capital Radio in early 1981 as the breakfast show presenter. He moved to BBC Radio 1 in 1982, presenting the weekday early show from 6-7am and a Saturday morning show.

In 1983, Smith took over the weekday lunchtime show from 11.30am-2pm until March 1984, when he briefly left to present BBC Breakfast Time. He was one of BBC TV's presenters at Live Aid in 1985.

He returned to Radio 1 in May 1986, taking over from Mike Read on the breakfast show from 7.00-9.30am, where he remained until exactly two years later. Around this time he did several British Touring Car Championship races as well, driving a newly homologated Sierra Cosworth in 1987, and then alongside Frank Sytner in 1988 with whom he often clashed in a BMW M3. He also won the Willhire 24 Hour at Snetterton in 1986, driving a Ford Escort RS Turbo. Veteran commentator Murray Walker remarked that Smith "guaranteed action by the bucket-load".

He is a qualified helicopter pilot. He and his girlfriend Sarah Greene were injured in September 1988 when the helicopter he was piloting crashed in Gloucestershire. Both passengers survived, however, although Sarah broke both legs and an arm, and Mike suffered a broken back and ankle. He was cleared of blame following an investigation and continued to fly.

Soon after the crash, he became engaged to Sarah. They married in 1989.

In 1989, Mike established a BTCC team known as Trakstar with Robb Gravett. They ran 2 Sierra Cosworths, which had been imported from the Australian Touring Car stable of Dick Johnson. Gravett went on to become runner up in Group A, but Mike struggled with his recovery from the crash. However, loss of a major sponsor in 1990 meant that only one car could be run, which was raced by Robb Gravett who became champion. Mike never raced competitively again.

His TV career includes: Noel Edmonds' The Late, Late Breakfast Show, That's Showbusiness and Julian Clary's Trick or Treat.

He and Sarah appeared as themselves in Ghostwatch.

In 2004, Mike founded Flying TV - a company providing aerial filming services to broadcasters. As well as being Managing Director, Mike often acts as an aerial cameraman .

Mike Smith (musician) (Wikipedia.org)

Mike Smith is a death metal drummer. He is known for his work with the death metal band Suffocation. He performed on their 1990 demo Reincremated, the 1991 EP, Human Waste, their 1991 debut album Effigy of the Forgotten, and their 1993 album Breeding the Spawn. He then departed from the band and was subsequently replaced by drummer Doug Bohn. He returned when Suffocation reformed in 2002 after a four-year hiatus and performed on their 2004 release, Souls to Deny and 2006 self-titled album.

Mike Smith also lent his drumming skill to the song "Dawn of a Golden Age" on Roadrunner United: The All Star Sessions.

Much as Suffocation is often called the founders of brutal death metal, Mike is credited for laying the groundwork for the drumming style that is a cornerstone of the genre. His style is extremely hard-hitting and punishing and relies more on power and rigidity than on dynamics and syncopation - although these are present in his style as well. Mike also sometimes employs an idiosyncratic technique of striking drums and cymbals with his left hand using an outward flick of his wrist, rather than an inward/downward motion as is common.

As perhaps the most important of his innovations, Mike invented and pioneered the technique of a blast beat that is played with bass drums, snare, and cymbals all in synchronization, as opposed to the original form, which most attribute to Napalm Death's Mick Harris, where the snare drum alternates with the bass drum and cymbal. On Suffocation's early material including the 1991 EP Human Waste and subsequent debut album Effigy of the Forgotten, Mike used this form of the blast beat exclusively, and while later Suffocation albums have made use of both forms of the blast beat, it continues to be a signature of their sound.

Smith, along with band-mate Terrance Hobbs is a rarity in death metal being one of the only black death metal musicians.

He has also worked with underground rapper Necro for his album Death Rap.

Mike Smith (basketball commentator) (Wikipedia.org)

Michael John Smith (born May 19 1965 in Rochester, New York), also known as Mike Smith, is a U.S. television and radio commentator for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association.

Smith was a standout basketball player at Brigham Young University. He excelled in both football and volleyball before concentrating on basketball exclusively. Smith served two years (1984-86) as a Mormon missionary before returning to BYU to finish his collegiate basketball career.

Smith was a first round draft pick of the Boston Celtics in 1989 (13th overall) as a 24-year-old. Boston famously passed up selecting such future stars as Tim Hardaway, Shawn Kemp, B.J. Armstrong, Vlade Divac and Clifford Robinson in favor of Smith. He played two seasons with the Celtics before being released in 1991, and spent several years playing overseas in Spain (he speaks fluent Spanish) before returning to the NBA in 1994-95 with the Clippers (not to be confused with another American player also named Mike Smith who had a long career in Spain, where he became a citizen and played on the Spanish team in the mid-1990s).

Smith followed his playing career by becoming a broadcaster, first as a color commentator on BYU's basketball telecasts, and then as a Clippers broadcaster. For the better part of four seasons (1998-2002), Smith worked as the team's radio play-by-play announcer, as well as a fill-in television color commentator alongside legendary Clipper voice Ralph Lawler.

When regular team TV commentator Bill Walton left to work exclusively for ESPN and ABC Sports in 2002, Smith moved over as Lawler's permanent partner on televised and non-televised games. He also served as a coach on the Clippers' Summer League teams on several occasions, and subsequently joined Lakers television announcer Joel Meyers in broadcasting several Toshiba Vegas Summer League games for NBA TV. Smith and Lawler often engage in playful banter during Clipper broadcasts, usually covering subjects such as Smith's frequent time on the bench in Boston. Lawler will also be quick to point out what he believes to be erroneous statements on Smith's part.

On December 26, 2007, Smith and his wife Debbie welcomed their 9th and 10th children into the family, a boy and girl.
