Michael James Owen (born 14 December 1979, in Chester, England) is an English football player currently with and captain of Newcastle United. He previously played for Liverpool (1996-2004) and Real Madrid C.F. (2004-05). He plays as a striker and has enjoyed a hugely successful and high-profile career at both club and international level and was the Ballon d'Or winner in 2001. Owen is currently England's fourth highest scorer of all time, with 40 goals in 88 games for his country, and is England's leading competitive goalscorer with 26 goals.He was selected by Pelé as one of the FIFA 125 greatest living players in 2004. Owen is best known for his blistering pace, precise finishing and intriguing predatory instincts around goal.
Michael Owen (born 7 November 1980 in Pontypridd), was educated at Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive school in Beddau and is a Welsh rugby union player. He plays for the Newport Gwent Dragons at club level and Wales internationally. Owen, who is 6'5" and 231 lb (1.96 m, 111 kg), most often plays Number 8, but is also versatile enough to play flanker or even lock. His ball handling is arguably his greatest asset.

He temporarily returned home for the birth of his second child.

Born on 8 June 1953 and educated at King Edward VI School, Southampton and Merton College, Oxford he was ordained in 1978. After a curacy in the Diocese of Southwark he became Chaplain at Thames Polytechnic in 1980 . He was Vicar of St Mary the Virgin, Southwark from 1984 to 1991 when he became Team Rector of Worcester South East and later Rural Dean of Worcester and Canon of Worcester Cathedral. Elevation to the Episcopate followed in 1999 with the Suffragan Bishopric of Middleton. In 2007 he was translated to Cyprus and the Gulf , his appointment widely welcomed .
