Michael O'Hare (born May 6, 1952) is an American actor, known for playing Jeffrey Sinclair on the science fiction television series Babylon 5.
O'Hare was born in Chicago, Illinois. He appeared in a number of theatrical productions in the New York area, including the role of Col. Jessup in the original stage version of A Few Good Men (the role played by Jack Nicholson in the film version).
In 1992, he was cast in the lead role of Commander Jeffrey Sinclair in the science-fiction television series Babylon 5. O'Hare remained with the series for one full season; both he and series producer J. Michael Straczynski said the decision for the character to depart was mutual and amicable. O'Hare subsequently reprised the character in a two-part episode guest appearances on the show, enabling the scriptwriter to wrap up loose ends.
Played the unflagging Col. Jessep in the Broadway hit, "A Few Good Men".
Michael O'Hare is proud and grateful to have been the first white actor nominated by the Black theater community of New York for the AUDELCO AWARD for the Best Actor for his performance in the play "Shades of Brown" which examined the saddening effects of apartheid in South Africa.
Active member of New York theater groups.
Attended Harvard University (where he majored in English Literature) and studied at the prestigious Julliard School of Drama, as well as with Sanford Meisner.
Has appeared in lead roles on Broadway three times: as Lt. Col. Nathan Roy Jessup in "A Few Good Men," as Geoff opposite Fred Gwynne in David Williamson (I)'s "Players" (Williamson also wrote the feature film 'Galipoli (1981)'), and as Hector with George Grizzard and Philip Bosco in George Bernard Shaw's "Man and Superman".
