Michael Gough (born November 23 1913) is an English character actor who has appeared in over 100 films. He is perhaps best known to international audiences by his recurring role as Alfred Pennyworth in the first four Batman movies, beginning with Batman (1989). Gough is one of only two actors to appear in each of the four (the other being Pat Hingle as Commissioner Gordon).
Gough was born in Malaya, the son of British parents Frances Atkins (née Bailie) and Francis Berkeley Gough. Gough made his film debut in 1947 in Blanche Fury, and has since appeared extensively on British television. He has guest-starred on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who, most notably as the villain in the serial The Celestial Toymaker. He also appeared in The Citadel as Sir Jenner Halliday, in the Doctor Who story Arc of Infinity as Councillor Hedin, and 1986's Out of Africa as Lord Delamere. He was once married to Anneke Wills, who played the Doctor's companion Polly in Doctor Who.
He has cult status among horror fans, because of his frequent appearances in sixties British horror films such as Hammer's Dracula (US: Horror of Dracula, 1958) and The Phantom of the Opera (1962); and Anglo-Amalgamated's Horrors of the Black Museum (1960). His later roles included Alfred Pennyworth for director Tim Burton, including Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). He also reprised his role as Alfred in the 1994 BBC radio adaptation of Batman: Knightfall and in Joel Schumacher Batman films, Batman Forever (1995) and Batman & Robin (1997). He worked for Burton again in 1999's Sleepy Hollow and 2005's Corpse Bride. He also briefly reprised the Alfred role in six 2001 television commercials for the OnStar automobile tracking system, informing Batman of the system's installation in the Batmobile.
He won Broadway's 1979 Tony Award as Best Actor (Featured Role - Play) for Bedroom Farce. He was also nominated in the same category in 1988 for Breaking the Code.

Notable roles in television animation include the lead role in Zorro, He replaced Howard Morris for the role of Gopher in The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Colonel Spigot in TaleSpin, Raphael in the final season of the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series (Following Rob Paulsen's depature from the role), and Cornfed Pig in Duckman.
He has also provided voice characterizations for many computer games. Most notably, he appeared in the games of Blizzard Entertainment, including playing the voice of Tassadar in the popular real-time strategy game StarCraft, and Deckard Cain in Diablo and Diablo II. He also voiced Jin Uzuki in Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Böse and Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra. He was the voice of Dan Smith in killer7. More recently he voiced Mitsuhide Akechi in the video game Samurai Warriors, although he is uncredited. Michael Gough also did the voice of Osmund Saddler, the main antagonist of the video game Resident Evil 4, the main protagonist Harry Mason of Silent Hill (credited as Michael G), an early generation of Johnny Sasaki, the loose-boweled jailer in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Imatcho in The Emperor's New School episode, "The Bride of Kuzco," and Private Carmine in the game Gears of War. He also the voice of Gnasty Gnorc in Spyro the Dragon. He also did the voice of Shrek for Mike Myers for the Shrek video games. He's also wellknow for doing the voice of the villien Tim Scam in the cartoon series Totally Spies!.
Michael Gough (born December 18, 1979) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm offbreak bowler. Having played in two Youth Test matches in 1997, he impressed enough to become a fully fledged member of the Durham side of 1998, having previously been an occasional member of their Second XI side, and carrying on in this role for five more years.
In his debut in Second XI cricket, he finished his first innings admirably, but went out in the second innings for a duck. Gough played in eleven Youth Test Matches, debuting in South Africa in December 1997, in a match which ended up as a draw having seen England Under-19s follow on from 130 runs behind. He subsequently played against Pakistan, New Zealand and Australia Under-19s.
Gough has most recently umpired in the Second XI Championship and in the Second XI trophy, officiating his first game in April 2006.
Is the second voice actor to voice Jin Uzuki in the Xenosaga video game series. Crispin Freeman was the first voice actor for Jin Uzuki.
Is the voice of Zazu in the new Enchanted Tiki Room at Walt Disney World. Rowan Atkinson ("Mr. Bean") played the original Zazu in "The Lion King".
