Due to the Writers' Guild of America strike in 1989, long-time James Bond scriptwriter Richard Maibaum was unable to continue working on the screenplay during production of Licence to Kill (1989). A long time member of the Guild, Maibaum felt he could not betray his membership and ghost-write the script. Wilson had to complete the screenplay on his own. This was to be the fifth and final pairing for the Maibaum-Wilson writing team which had started with For Your Eyes Only (1981).
First ever credited acting performance in a James Bond film was for Die Another Day (2002). He played General Chandler. In this film, he can also be seen uncredited as a Man leaning against a car in Cuba.
For the Man with the Golden Gun, The (1974), he made a small contribution acting as an uncredited technical consultant. He mathed some integral calculus in relation to the spiral car stunt.
He has been credited as a fully-fledged producer on the James Bond films ever since View to a Kill, A (1985) until the present. He produced three James Bond movies with step-father _Albert R. Broccoli_ including that film and Living Daylights, The (1987) and Licence to Kill (1989). He was an executive producer on Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981) and Octopussy (1983) and a special assistant to the producer on Spy Who Loved Me, The (1977). Since GoldenEye (1995), he has produced the James Bond movies with step-sister Barbara Broccoli.
He was a co-scriptwriter for the EON Productions James Bond series on five occasions. He teamed with veteran scriptwriter Richard Maibaum on For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983), View to a Kill, A (1985), Living Daylights, The (1987) and Licence to Kill (1989).
His association with the James Bond series started with Goldfinger (1964) where he made a cameo, a tradition which would continue regularly from Spy Who Loved Me, The (1977) to the present.
His father Lewis Wilson (I) was the first ever Batman on screen.
