Michael Patrick Barrett (born October 22, 1976 in Atlanta, Georgia) is a catcher for the San Diego Padres in Major League Baseball. Upon Barrett's return to the Major League in 1999, he ranked among the top offensive rookies in various statistical categories. Barrett failed to stay healthy during the season, which prompted the Expos to trade him to the _Oakland Athletics, who in turn, traded him to the Chicago Cubs. During his tenure with the Cubs, Barrett won a Silver Slugger award in , and recorded near career-high statistics in season. The Cubs traded Barrett to the San Diego Padres in June of .
Michael Barrett (died 26 May 1868) was a County Fermanagh-born member of the Fenians. He came originally from the townland of Drumnagreshial in the Ederney area of County Fermanagh.
He was the last man to be publicly hanged in Great Britain for his part in the Clerkenwell bombing. The bombing killed a dozen bystanders. Many people were severely injured in the blast. Newspaper reports recounted the grievous injuries of those mutilated for weeks afterwards. Barrett was alleged to have laid the charge in a wheelbarrow outside the wall of Coldbath Fields Prison in the belief that it would bring down the prison wall and enable Fenian prisoners to escape.
Michael Barrett (15 January 1927 – 8 July 2006) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician.
A native of Loughglynn, County Roscommon, who worked in An Foras Taluntais, Barrett was elected to the 22nd Dáil as a TD for the Dublin North West constituency on his first attempt at the 1981 general election and re-elected until retiring at the 1992 general election when he was succeeded by Noel Ahern.
He was elected to Dublin Corporation in 1979 and also served as chairperson of the Eastern Health Board. He was a traditional catholic and a strong supporter of the anti-abortion movement.
He died in 2006 in Dublin, aged 79
Michael Barrett, (16 May 1816 - 26 February 1887), was a physician and teacher. He was born in London, England, received his early education at Caen, France and emigrated with his family to Upper Canada in 1833.
Barrett is best remembered for his role in the establishment of the Ontario Medical College for Women. Women were being denied admission to existing medical schools and an appeal to Barrett and other medical people by Augusta Stowe-Gullen resulted in the opening of the college in 1883. He received the appointment dean and also taught there until his death.
