Michael Buchman Silver (born July 8, 1967) is an American actor. One of his earliest roles was in the 1993 film Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, where the public thought he looked much like Saved By The Bell star A.C. Slater. He is perhaps most well-known for his recurring role as Assistant District Attorney Leo Cohen in the television series NYPD Blue. He appeared in 31 episodes of the series. Silver has also had recurring roles on two other dramatic series. He has appeared as Dr. Paul Myers on ER and more recently has been seen as FBI Agent Peter Elliott on CSI: Miami. In addition, Silver has made many other guest appearances on various primetime series such as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (in the episode "Paradise") and The X-Files.
Silver was born in New York City, the brother of writer Mandy Silver and the grandson of Oscar-winning screenwriter Sidney Buchman. He is married to actress Katie Mitchell. Silver is a graduate of Brown University.
Born and raised in Manhattan, a graduate of Brown University, Michael Silver comes from a long line of filmmakers. His grandfather, Oscar-winning screenwriter Sidney Buchman, ran Columbia Pictures under Harry Cohn (I) throughout the 1930s and 1940s and wrote and produced such films as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941), Talk of the Town, The (1942), Awful Truth, The (1937) _Sahara (1943)_, Song to Remember, A (1945), Holiday (1938), Lost Horizon (1937), Jolson Story, The (1946), Cleopatra (1934), Theodora Goes Wild (1936) and more than 20 others. He was blacklisted in 1951 but continued to write from Cannes until his death in 1975. Michael's sister, Amanda Silver, wrote Hand That Rocks the Cradle, The (1992) and other films. He is currently set up to direct his first feature "Sweetwater" which he scribed as well.
