Michael Adams (born November 17, 1971 in Truro, Cornwall, England) is an Grandmaster of chess. On the January 2008 FIDE rating list he is number 16 in the world with an Elo rating of 2726, making him the number one British chess player. He is also a chess writer.
Michael Adams (born January 19 1963 in Hartford, Connecticut) is a former NBA basketball player and current assistant coach for the University of Maryland, College Park's men's basketball team.
After starring at Boston College, the 5'10" point guard was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the 3rd round with the 66th pick of the 1985 NBA Draft. He only averaged 2.2 points during his rookie season, but he would have more success later in his career while playing for other teams. In his second season he played with the Washington Bullets, but Adams had his best season in 1990-1991, when he averaged 26.5 points and 10.5 assists per game while playing for the Denver Nuggets. After that breakout season, he rejoined the Bullets via a trade, during which time he appeared in his first NBA All-Star Game in 1992.
Renowned for his "push shot", Adams retired in 1996 when playing for the Charlotte Hornets with career totals of 9,621 points and 4,209 assists, and remains among the all-time league leaders in three-point field goals made and attempted. He later served briefly as head coach of the WNBA's Washington Mystics, before becoming an assistant coach for Maryland.

Born in Douglastown, Parish of Newcastle, New Brunswick, of Irish descent, Martin was educated in Douglastown. He has was married twice: first, in 1869, to Miss Catherine L. Patterson, and second, on November 29, 1882, to Miss Nealis. He was called to the Bar of New Brunswick on October 14, 1868, and was appointed a Queen's Counsel in February, 1891. He was Surveyor-General of New Brunswick and also a member of the Executive Council from July 1878 to February 1882. He held a seat in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1870 to 1874, and also from 1878 to 1887, when he resigned to run for the Canadian House of Commons, but was defeated in the 1887 federal election. He was first elected to the House of Commons for the riding of Northumberland, at the general election held in 1891, and continued to sit until January 1896, when he was called to the Senate of Canada representing the senatorial division of Northumberland, New Brunswick. A Conservative, he died in office in 1899.

Michael Wayne Adams (born June 17, 1985 in Dallas, Texas) is an American football cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He was originally signed by the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He played college football at Louisiana-Lafayette.
