Melissa Fitzgerald (born 1965 in USA) is an American actress best known for her role on the TV program The West Wing as Carol Fitzpatrick, assistant to C. J. Cregg.
Fitzgerald attended and graduated from Springside School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and earned a B.A. in drama and literature from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of prominent Pennsylvania judge James Fitzgerald.
She is the founder of Voices in Harmony, a non-profit community theater in Los Angeles.
In 1990 Melissa met her husband, actor Noah Emmerich, who acted in such movies as The Truman Show, Beautiful Girls, and Miracle. They were married November 28 1998.

Melissa's resume states that she is a ranked tennis player and skilled in badminton, hiking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, fencing, and is able to work in dialects and accents. She is reportedly considering running for Congress in 2008 aganist Rep. _Jim Gerlach.
