McHale's Navy was an American television sitcom series. The series ran for 138 half-hour episodes from September 11 1962 to August 20 1966 on ABC. The series was filmed in black and white. The show sprang from a one-hour drama called Seven Against the Sea broadcast on April 3 1962.
McHale's Navy is a 1997 military comedy film starring Tom Arnold as the son of Lieutenant Commander Quintin McHale, known by the same name (retired). The movie is based on the television series.
In the film, the former Lt. Commander McHale has been promoted to Admiral and now works in the Pentagon. His son, also retired from the Navy, is called back to duty after the (fictional) island of San Marino becomes headquarters for the international terrorist, Major Vladikov. It is not until the end of the movie that Cobra is revealed to be the original McHale from the television series.
Retired Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale spends his days puttering around the Caribbean in the old PT-73 selling homebrew, ice cream, and swimsuit calendars. He's brought out of retirement when his old nemesis turned the second best terrorist in the world, Major Vladikov, takes over the island of San Moreno and starts building a nuclear launch silo on it. With help from his old crew and hindrances from Captain Wallace B. Binghampton, who sank a cruise liner a while back, McHale tries to put Vladikov out of business. Written by Jeff Cross
Naval commander McHale has left the service and set-up shop on Caribbean island, which supplies his former mates at a military base nearby with everything. McHale gets back into his crew when his arch-enemy Major Vladikov sets up an operation to destroy the island. Written by Anonymous
The crew of PT-73 get into trouble when they back the wrong horse in a race. Now they have to come up with a way to raise the money to pay off the winners. Written by Brian W Martz
These are the adventures of the misfit crew of PT-73 during World War II. They're one of the best fighting crews in the Navy, but break regulations when it suits them. Their commander, LCDR McHale, is at times as roguish as his crew, but he puts his foot down when things go too far. They are assigned an XO, Ensign Parker, who is by-the-book, but too much of a klutz to command too much respect. They have a house-boy Fuji, who deserted the Japanese Navy, who wears a POW outfit just in case he's caught so he won't be shot at. Their nemesis is CAPT Binghamton and his aide LT Carpenter. They're initially stationed in the South Pacific, but move to Italy in the last season. Written by Tony B
