McClain's Law was an American crime drama television series that aired on NBC for one season during 1981-1982.
The series starred former Gunsmoke lead James Arness in a rare non-western turn as Jim McClain, a retired cop who returns to duty to avenge the death of a friend, and ends up coming out of retirement in order to share his expertise with a younger generation of police officers. The series (which, like several others from this period was criticized for its level of violence) co-starred Marshall Colt and George DiCenzo.
Jim McClain was a cop and after being injured and deemed unfit for duty he was retired and for the past fifteen years was working on a fishing boat. One day he and his partner sell their boat. His partner encashes the check and is walking around with the cash in his pocket and is robbed and killed. McClain feels that the police are not doing enough so he tried to get reinstated, which the current head of homicide is in opposition. However, McClain gets what he wants and after apprehending his partner's killer, he stays on which doesn't make his current boss all that happy. Because he doesn't like McClain's way of doing things or disregard for the rules. Written by
