Mark Wing-Davey (born 30 November 1948, London, England), is a British actor and director.
The son of actors Peter Davey and Anna Wing, Wing-Davey went to school at Woolverstone Hall, before studying at Cambridge University where he was a member of the Footlights from 1967 to 1970.
He had a featured role in the 1976 mini series,The Glittering Prizes, blank">http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073999/. This role was later cited as the reason for being cast in arguably his most memorable role, that of the two-headed Galactic President, _Zaphod Beeblebrox, in the radio and TV versions of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, written by Douglas Adams.
He also played a Barrister in some episodes the ITV Television series Crown Court, a record company executive in Breaking Glass (1980) and an accountant in Absolutely Fabulous.
He works mainly in theatre now as performer, director and teacher. His directing credits are vast and varied and he is viewed as one of the foremost British directors. He was awarded the U.S.'s OBIE for directing the play 'Mad Forest'. He was also the first Artistic Director of The Actors Centre, London.
In 2003 he returned to the role of Zaphod Beeblebrox for the Above the Title production of the Hitchhiker's Guide Tertiary to Quintessential Phase radio dramas for BBC Radio 4.
More recently he has provided the voice of Judge Ghis in the English version of Final Fantasy XII.
Wing-Davey is directing the upcoming Off-Broadway production of Unconditional by Brett C. Leonard at The Public Theater. It is being put up by Philip Seymour Hoffman's theater group, LAByrinth Theater Company, of which he is a member. It will open in February 2008.

Wing-Davey has an extensive background in the theatre, as a performer, director, and teacher of the dramatic arts. As a student at Cambridge University, he was a member of the Footlights Dramatic Club from 1967-70. In 1970, he served as the Footlights Decor Master and Costumier and performed in the Comic Annual. In subsequent years, future co-star Simon Jones (I) and author Douglas Adams of the cult TV series "Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, The" (1981) were also members of Cambridge Footlights. In 1991, Wing-Davey was awarded an OBIE in the U.S. for his direction of the stage play "Mad Forest."
