Mark Peter Metcalf (born March 11, 1946 in Findlay, Ohio) is an American actor in both television and film.
Metcalf attended Westfield High School in Westfield, NJ. He is likely most known to two different generations for two notable roles. In the classic college comedy, National Lampoon's Animal House (1978), he played the sadistic ROTC leader "Doug Neidermeyer". He reprised this role in the Twisted Sister music videos "We're Not Gonna Take It" (as the sadistic father) and "I Wanna Rock" (as a high school teacher). In each video he used his Animal House catchphrases, "A Twisted Sister pin?! On your uniform?!" and "You're all worthless and weak!" respectively. He portrayed a very similar character in the sitcom Teen Angel.
In the 1997-2003 television show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and its spinoff Angel , Metcalf played the ancient vampire supervillain, "The Master". Coincidentally, he also played a character called "the Maestro" on two episodes of Seinfeld.
Metcalf and his ex-wife, Libby, have one child. He currently lives in Milwaukee and is a frequent guest on the Bob and Brian show, which airs on WHQG-FM (102.9).
He and his ex-wife own a restaurant named Libby Montana in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Mark now lives in Bayside, Wisconsin and works at First Stage Children's Theater.
Mark Peter Metcalf (b. 25 September 1965 in Norwich) is a former professional footballer.
Metcalf, a midfielder, began his career with Norwich City. While at Carrow Road he won England youth caps and an FA Youth Cup winner's medal in 1983. He made just one substitute appearance for the club's first team, however, on 13 November 1982 in a 1-0 defeat against West Ham at Upton Park. His first team opportunities in the professional game were effectively ended by a broken leg that he suffered at the outset of his career, from which he never fully recovered.
He was released by the club in 1985 but was re-signed by the Canaries later that year. He was released again in 1987 and played non-league football in Norfolk for King's Lynn, Wroxham, Lakeford United, Diss Town and Wymondham Town.
Had recurring roles as "The Maestro" on "Seinfeld" (1990) and "The Master" on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997). "Maestro" is Italian for "Master".
Played the father in the intro to the Twisted Sister music video "We're Not Gonna Take It," reprising his sadistic, saliva-spraying ROTC "Neidermeyer" persona and line from Animal House (1978), "You're all worthless and weak!"
Featured as a high school teacher in the Twisted Sister music video for "I Wanna Rock". Also reprising his mean persona, ironically the principal is played by Stephen Furst who was "Flounder" in the movie "Animal House".
Lied about his ability to ride horses in order to get the role of Neidermeyer in Animal House (1978). After he got the part, he took horseback riding lessons.
