Mario Van Peebles (b. January 15, 1957 in Mexico City, Mexico) is an American director and actor who has appeared in numerous films. He is the son of writer, director and actor Melvin Van Peebles and German actress Maria Marx.
His 2004 biopic BAADASSSSS! describes the making of his father's seminal film, Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song.
He graduated from Saint Thomas More School in 1974 and from Columbia University in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in economics.
Mario Peebles was born in Mexico City in 1957. He was an analyst for the New York City Mayor's Office of Managment and Budget under Mayor Edward I. Koch during the city's fiscal crisis in 1979. Assigned to the Environmental Protection Agency budget task force.
