Edward Macdonald Carey (March 15, 1913 – March 21, 1994) was an American actor best known for his role as the patriarch Dr. Tom Horton on NBC's soap opera Days of our Lives. For almost three decades, he was the show's central cast member.
An American movie & TV actor, MacDonald Carey became famous for his TV role, Dr. Tom Horton on NBC's Days of our Lives (1965). For three decades, he became the centered cast member of the show. During his movie career in the 1940s, 60s and 60s, he made B-movies and became known as "King of Bs", sharing a similar title to Lucille Ball, who was known as the "Queen of Bs". In his career in movies, he became an unlikely leading man when playing an "everyday" hero. Besides movies and TV, Carey also had a successful Broadway and radio career. He played Dr. Tom Horton from the year it started to his death.
