Lucy Lawless (born Lucille Frances Ryan on March 29, 1968 in Mount Albert, New Zealand) is an actress and singer.
As an actress, Lawless is best known for her role as Xena on the popular American TV series Xena: Warrior Princess from 1995 to 2001.

She was offered the role of Ellen Tigh in Battlestar Galactica (2004), but she refused. That role was played by Kate Vernon and the scriptwriters created another role for her, the evil D'anna Biers.
