Love songs have been around for hundreds of years and are found in most cultures. The Western world uses the love song to express feelings in a way most people would identify with. Some tribal cultures use group love songs to attract a partner in elaborate rituals. Love songs are performed wherever music is found, such as romantic films, television and recorded media such as tapes and CDs. Love songs are a common feature of most Broadway musicals, often in exchanges between the protagonist and his or her interest. Sometimes, the song is shared by two suitors and a common love interest. The love song has dominated almost all genres of popular music. However rebellious the music, such as punk rock or rap, the experience of "falling in love" always seems to require expression.
It is also a very common theme in hard rock and heavy metal, from where the power ballad element emerged in the late 70's. However, specially in modern heavy metal sub genres such as Gothic metal, power metal and progressive metal, the meaning of love and romance is taken to a much more poetic and deeper analysis. This is notable in bands such as Opeth, Sonata Arctica or Nightwish, which have adapted the love song stereotype in their music style.
Love Song was a single by The Damned.
It was the first fruits of the reformed line-up's deal with Chiswick Records. Boosted by four variant picture sleeves, each one featuring a member of the band (the cover featured to the right is the Captain Sensible variant), with an additional 20,000 copies pressed on red vinyl - 5,000 for each sleeve. This, combined with radio airplay and a catchy song, led to The Damned's first hit, peaking at UK #20 and leading to the band's debut on Top of the Pops.
In February 1982, Chiswick reissued the single on their Big Beat imprint, releasing only the covers featuring Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible and Rat Scabies were reissued, Algy Ward having left the band by this stage.
The single was also issued in France, Germany and the Netherlands.
"Love Song" is a power ballad by the band Tesla, from the album The Great Radio Controversy, released in 1989.
The music video was filmed in the bands home town of Sacramento at the former Cal Expo ampitheater. Old 93 Rock banners can be seen hanging in the back ground.
Love Song is m-flo's 22nd single under Rhythm Zone. It contains 2 new songs for their next 2007 album, a remix of "Lotta Love", and instrumentals. It was released on November 8, 2006. First pressings of the single will include CD-Extra footage of a live "Summer Time Love" performance.
"Love Song" is a song by the Australian hard rock band AC/DC. This song can be found as the seventh track on their 1975 Australian release of High Voltage. Written by Bon Scott Angus Young and Malcolm Young, this song was never released outside Australia, but exists on some rarities bootlegs.
"Love Song" evolved from an older, unrecorded song called "Fell In Love", written by Malcolm Young and the band's original singer Dave Evans. This earlier version of the song had different lyrics, and the finished lyrics as heard on the album were added by Bon Scott. This song cannot be found on the '74 Jailbreak album, but can be unlocked on AC/DC's website when a remastered copy of '74 Jailbreak is placed in the CD drive. Another notable aspect of this song is not only that it's AC/DC's only ballad, but that Malcolm plays lead for most of the song.
In Hobart, Tasmania on January 7, 1977, the intro to this song was used to trick the crowd, and right before the lyrics would normally start the band began to play "Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap)".
This is the only AC/DC song where Angus plays an acoustic guitar
Love Song was the Polish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, performed in English (with some lyrics in Spanish) by Blue Café.
The song is an up-tempo number, heavily inspired by Latin music. Lead singer Tatiana Okupnik sings that she wants to be loved, and that "Every night/I sing this way". The bridge is delivered in Spanish, in keeping with the musical style, and features Okupnik telling her lover that she wants to be his girl and that she enjoys feeling like a girl around him.
As Poland had finished the 2003 Contest in the top 10, the song was pre-qualified for the final. Here, it was performed nineteenth (following Ireland's Chris Doran with If My World Stopped Turning and preceding the United Kingdom's James Fox with Hold Onto Our Love). At the close of voting, it had received 27 points, placing 17th in a field of 24 and requiring Poland to qualify through the semi-final at the next Contest.
It was succeeded as Polish representative at the 2005 Contest by Ivan & Delfin with Czarna dziewczyna.
"Love Song" is the first single released from Sara Bareilles's 2007 album Little Voice. It was written in response to her record label Epic requesting that she write a marketable love song. The song was also featured in a Rhapsody commercial along with "Bottle It Up".
