Living Dolls was a short-lived situation comedy featured on the fall 1989 schedule of American Broadcasting Company (ABC). It was a spin-off created by a writer from Who's the Boss? and featuring characters introduced during an episode of that show blank">"Living Dolls" episode of Who's the Boss?, a TV.com summary . Both Who's the Boss? and Living Dolls were produced by _Columbia Pictures Television and ABC.
The show featured Charlie Briscoe (Leah Remini), a friend of Samantha Micelli (the Who's the Boss? character played by Alyssa Milano). Samantha is dabbling in a modeling career and Charlie, a friend from Samantha's old Brooklyn neighborhood comes to visit. While doing some test shots for a dog food commercial, it is discovered that Charlie is very photogenic. Charlie was then befriended by Trish Carlin (Michael Learned from The Waltons), the owner of a modeling agency for teenaged girls.
Living Dolls was almost universally derided by critics; it was the only series to earn an "F" by People magazine in their 1989 fall preview issue.
This show as a spinoff of "Who's the Boss?" Charlie Briscoe (Leah Remini of "The King of Queens") is a friend of Samantha Micelli's, who needs a new home. Trish Carlin (Michael Learned of "The Waltons") is a friend of Angela's who runs a modeling agency for teens in New York City. Charlie becomes Trisha's new project *and* headache. This series began on an episode of WHO'S THE BOSS. In the episode, Charlie, an old friend of BOSS regular, Samantha played by Alyssa Milano, was visiting her. It was eventually revealed that her mother had disowned her, and it turns out that another BOSS regular, Angela, had an old friend, Trish Carlin, visiting her. Trish is a modelling agent, who specializes in teenagers. And unlike other agents who works their models and doesn't care about them beyond that, Trish makes sure that they continue their education. So, she offers Charlie a job and lets her her stay at her house, along with four other girls. Also living there is her son. Charlie feeling a little hostile towards the discipline that Trish is enforcing on her, acts up, every now and then. But in the end realizes that Trish only wants what's best fopr her. Eventually, Michael Learned who plays Trish was replaced, in the story, Trish was off on a business trip, so her sister played by Marion Ross was looking after her house, her son, and the girls.
