"Let's Go" is the first and only single of LiveonRelease's second album, Goes on a Field Trip.
"Let's Go" was a 1979 single by The Cars, written by Ric Ocasek, produced by Roy Thomas Baker and featuring lead vocals by Cars bassist Ben Orr. It tells the story of a 17-year old driving school student and her budding interest in "the nightlife" It is told from the perspective of a teenage boy who wishes to ask her out for a date. She refuses any and all of his advances. The recording was first released as the opening track on the Cars' second album Candy-O, which came out in 1979. It was subsequently released as the album's lead-off single, peaking at #14 on the U.S. Pop Singles Chart. The song was an even bigger success in Canada, reaching #5 -- it remains the Cars' highest ever charting single in Canada. "Let's Go" was also performed by The Chipmunks. This recording was released as the opening track on the Chipmunks' comeback album Chipmunk Punk, which came out on August 23, 1980. The song's rhythm hook (played during the song's chorus just before the words "Let's go!") was also used, in a slightly modified form, by John Fogerty in his song "Centerfield" (1985), although Ocasek is not credited as a co-author.
In 1990 a cover version of the song was recorded by Isley Brother Ernie Isley for the compilation album Rubáiyát.
In mid-2007, the tune of the song was used in a series of television commercials for Kmart Australia.http://www.kmart.com.au/about/tv/soccerdads.asp
