Lenny Von Dohlen (born 22 December 1958, Augusta, Georgia, U.S.) is an American film and stage actor, best known for his performance as Harold Smith in Twin Peaks and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.

Lenny Von Dohlen’s film debut was in the Academy Award-winning Tender Mercies, starring Robert Duvall, written by Horton Foote and directed by Bruce Beresford. From that performance, Mr. Von Dohlen was given the leading role in MGM/UA’s Electric Dreams. Other roles include: Under the Biltmore Clock; Blind Vision; Jennifer 8; Ed Zwick’s Leaving Normal and the title role in Billy Galvin.

He played one of th bad guys in Twentieth Century Fox’s Home Alone 3, and appeared in independent films such as Toll Booth, Bird of Prey, One Good Turn, Entertaining Angels, Cadillac and Frontline. In 2007, he can be seen starring in Beautiful Loser and Teeth, a Sundance and Berlin Film Festival Dramatic Competition nominee.

In addition to his role on Twin Peaks, Von Dohlen has appeared in Kent State, thirtysomething, The Lazarus Man, Picket Fences, The Pretender, Chicago Hope and Red Dwarf and appeared in a cameo on Walker, Texas Ranger, in 1996. Most recently he appeared in the Masterpiece Theatre presentation of Eudora Welty’s The Ponder Heart on PBS.

In the theatre, Von Dohlen has created roles in the New York productions of Asian Shade, The Team, Twister and Vanishing Act and The Maderati, the latter two by Richard Greenberg. For nine months he starred in Carol Churchill’s play Cloud 9, directed by Tommy Tune, followed by The Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of Desire Under the Elms opposite Kathy Baker. He has starred in Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet and Joe Orton’s Loot. On the West Coast, Mr. Von Dohlen has been seen in Wedekind's Lulu at the La Jolla Playhouse, and The Blue Room at the Pasadena. Von Dohlen originated the role of Voltaire in the world premiere of Jean Claude van Italie's Light garnering Best Actor nominations from the Los Angeles Critics Circle and Ovation.

Von Dohlen currently resides in New York and Los Angeles.

He graduated from the University of Texas/Austin and majored in drama at Loretto Heights College. In a career known for depth, diversity and mostly dramatic roles, Lenny Von Dohlen shook things up hilariously when he played one of the bumbling bad guys in Twentieth Century Fox's Home Alone III. This came on the heels of a string of amazingly complex roles in highly regarded independent films such as Tollbooth, The (2004), Bird of Prey (1995), One Good Turn (1996), Entertaining Angels (1998), Cadillac (1997) and "Frontline" (1994). Von Dohlen made an auspicious television debut in the Emmy Award-winning Kent State: The Day the War Came Home (2000) (TV), and has appeared in some of television's most highly regarded shows, such as Thirtysomething, Picket Fences, Chicago Hope, The Lazarus Man, The Pretender, Miami CSI and Don't Touch, directed by Beau Bridges. However, he is probably best known for having created the agoraphobic orchid-growing Harold Smith in David Lynch's cutting-edge series Twin Peaks. Most recently he appeared in Masterpiece Theatre's presentation of Eudora Welty's The Ponder Heart on PBS. Above all, the theater is his first love. In New York he created roles in Asian Shade, The Team, Twister and Vanishing Act and The Maderati, both by Richard Greenberg.
