"Left Behind" is a single by nu metal band Slipknot. It was released from their 2001 album, Iowa, and ranked number 30 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks. The song has a similar riff to that of the Smashing Pumpkins song Zero.
The music video for "Left Behind" focuses primarily on a young boy who is first seen cutting up goat in a market. He then goes to his dirty, rundown home where bullies throw stones through his windows. The boy uses filthy faucet water on his Froot Loops and watches Slipknot on an old television set. Left Behind also refers to those left behind from the rapture.
Slipknot is shown performing the song in a dead forest (perhaps in Iowa) that, toward the end of the video, is heavily rained on as the song becomes even more intense. This video also marked the video debut of Slipknot's new costumes.
"Left Behind" is one of two singles to come from the Iowa album. The video is sometimes mistaken that the boy was a psychopath; although, he is not. This is one of the few pre-Subliminal Verses songs to feature little to no swearing. A radio version of the song removes the drum fill preceding the chorus as well as silences the background chorus vocals.
