Lee Paul Phillips (born September 16, 1980 in Penzance, England) is a professional footballer with English Conference side Torquay United.
Phillips started his sporting career playing rugby union for the England under 15's and 21's. However, Phillips then switched his attention to football.
Lee, a striker, started his football playing career as a youth trainee with Plymouth Argyle. Phillips made 50 first team appearances at Home Park over five years, of which 32 were as a substitute. Unfortunately, while at Plymouth, Lee suffered a broken leg that many thought would end his playing career.
Fortunately, Phillips was able to recover and signed with then Conference South club, Weymouth F.C.. Over two seasons, Phillips made 67 appearances for Weymouth, scoring 33 goals.
On 22 February, 2005, Phillips moved on a free transfer to English Conference side Exeter City. During his first two seasons at St James Park, Phillips solidified his position as a first choice striker, scoring 17 times in 51 appearances.
The arrival of new Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale for the 2006–07 season, has led to a rotational system between Phillips, new striker Adam Stansfield, and Jamie Mackie.
Known as 'Super Lee' - a nickname well suited to his all-action style - Phillips is maturing into an all round attacking player who easily creates more goals than he scores. It remains to be seen whether that's a tribute, a criticism or an indication that an attacking midfield role is the next logical step.
Phillips joined local rivals Torquay United for a fee of £17,500 on a three-year deal on June 21, 2007.
