Last Man Standing is a 2005 Australian television series.
It aired in Australia from June 2005 to October 2005; and in New Zealand from April to September. The series will not return for a second season.
The main characters are three best friends — Adam, Bruno and Cameron — who live and work in Melbourne. All three are discovering that, in their late twenties, they are still single and really have no idea about women whatsoever.
Adam is newly single, having come out of a long-term relationship, and is dealing with the dating world for the first time in a long time.
Cameron is the sexual predator of the group, although this role has been somewhat lessened by the fact that his ex-wife Zoe — who left when he had an affair — is now part of the group, and is becoming friends with the women he dates.
Bruno is a nurse who has a habit of falling for women who don't care for him, while ignoring the many women who do.
In keeping with the show's distinctly Melbourne feel, iconic Melbourne rock band Dallas Crane recorded a cover of Come See Me, originally by The Pretty Things, for the show's theme tune. The cover can be found as a B-side to the band's Curiosity single.
It was announced in mid October 2006 that repeats of Last Man Standing would occur from the beginning of November taking the slot at 2pm, the slot for Blue Heelers repeats, it is said that the season will be shown in full and round up at the end of the ratings year and Blue Heelers will return the following year.
Last Man Standing is a 1996 action film written and directed by Walter Hill, starring Bruce Willis, Christopher Walken, and Bruce Dern. It is a credited remake of the Akira Kurosawa film Yojimbo, and after Sergio Leone's A Fistful of Dollars was the second remake of the Japanese film, itself a probable remake of Dashiell Hammett's detective novel Red Harvest. The film is known primarily for its intense gunfights, featuring Bruce Willis's character dual-wielding two M1911 .45 caliber pistols akimbo in the style reminiscent of Hong Kong Blood Opera.
Carry My Cross examines a slice of America rarely seen on the evening news, with a cinema verite style, following Singer/Songwriter Drew Landry through one-year of his life as he records an album, tours, and inevitably fails or succeeds. Through interviews with friends, family, ex-lovers, employers and band members, we capture Landry's essence as well as the disenfranchised America which inspires his politically truthful songs. A gang of bank robbers, led by the ultra-violent Snake Underwood, pull off a daring mid-day heist that leaves dozens of burning police cars and scores of innocent victims in its wake. Heading the investigation into the gang is the equally violent detective Kurt Bellmore, along with his partner Doc Kane. Though the pair manage to apprehend Underwood fairly quickly, they then find themselves up against an even greater adversary: the corrupt cops who are on Underwood's payroll, and a revolving-door legal system that just doesn't care. If the two want to clear the streets of Snake and his gang, going by the book just isn't going to be enough. Written by Jean-Marc Rocher
John Smith is an amoral gunslinger in the days of Prohibition. On the lam from his latest (unspecified) exploits, he happens upon the town of Jericho, Texas. Actually, calling Jericho a town would be too generous--it has become more like a ghost town, since two warring gangs have 'driven off all the decent folk.' Smith sees this as an opportunity to play both sides off against each other, earning himself a nice piece of change as a hired gun. Despite his strictly avowed mercenary intentions, he finds himself risking his life for his, albeit skewed, sense of honor.... Written by Tad Dibbern
