Kate Ashfield (born 28 May, 1972) is an award-winning English actress and comedienne.
She is probably best known for her award-winning roles as Jody in the British-German film Late Night Shopping (2001) and as Sadie MacGregor in the British film This Little Life (2003).
She also had a role in the 2004 film Shaun of the Dead.
Ashfield was born in Birmingham, and attended King Edward VI Five Ways (being part of the first female intake into the sixth form in 1988 prior to the school being opened up completely to girls in 1998). Ashfield appeared in As You Like It and was involved in a number of local youth theatre groups. She trained at Rose Bruford College.
She has since appeared in many film, television and theatre productions. Her first movie role came in 1994 as Ella in John Wells' film Princess Caraboo.
She has performed in numerous plays associated with the In-yer-face theatre movement, and was invited to speak on the subject at the University of the West of England's 2002 Theatre's Shock Therapy conference.
She is currently filming Anne Frank and will next work on the thriller Hush.
Most recognizable to international audiences for her lead role in Shaun of the Dead (2004), Kate Ashfield is a powerful British actress known for superlative and award-winning work in This Little Life (2003) (TV) (B.I.F.A. nomination, Best Actress), Late Night Shopping (2001) (B.I.F.A.
