Edward James Begley, Jr. (born September 16, 1949) is an American character actor and game show panelist and environmentalist who is perhaps best known for his work as Dr. Mark Craig's intern, Dr. Victor Ehrlich on the television series St. Elsewhere, for which he received six consecutive Emmy Award nominations.

Involved in enviromental affairs, he was named to Environmental Affairs Commission in 1993, and the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy in 1994.
He used to appear on a US radio soap called 'Milford Haven' with fiance, Mara Purl. They had their future marriage vows blessed in the town of the same name in Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK. Vows that were sadly never completed.
Is a vegetarian.
He quit his job as the Los Angeles Environmental Commissioner when he realized that he was destroying trees by all the paper the commission was using.

His home is solar powered and he primarily uses his bike and public transportation.
