Jon Scieszka (SHEH-ska) (born September 8, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, U.S.) is an American author of children's literature, best known for his collaborations with illustrator Lane Smith. He is also a nationally recognized reading advocate. In early 2008, he was named the inaugural "National Ambassador for Young People's Literature" by the Library of Congress.
